Fly Fishing Equipment

Bonefish:
• 8-9 weight fast-action rod with salt water taper
• Disc-drag large arbor reel with at least 200 yards of backing
• 10-12 ft. leaders with 10-12 lb. clear monofilament or fluorocarbon tippet
Permit:
• 9-10 weight rods
• Floating saltwater line & intermediate sinking line
• Disc-drag large arbor reel with at least 200 yards of backing
• 9-12 ft. leaders with 12-15 lb. clear monofilament or fluorocarbon tippet
Tarpon:
• 8-10 weight rods
• Floating saltwater line & intermediate sinking line
• Disc-drag large arbor reel with at least 200-300 yards of backing
• 6-9 ft. leaders with 15 lb. clear monofilament or fluorocarbon tippet

Always bring extra leaders as it is virtually impossible to get gear once you get to Xcalak.
